People using domain names other than @gigo.com have the luxury of more choices. Ultimately, it will be up to the domain owner to make a decision, for all users sharing that domain.
If you are a user of another domain name
Check with the domain name owner. If you're not sure who that is, ask me via email. I don't want to post names publicly on this web site.
If you down your own domain name, and host it on gigo.com
I have come up with just a few recommended solutions. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.
Support: mail hosted by jfesler; no spam filter.
This will mean disabling all spam filtering. This option will of course generate a lot more junk mail. Perhaps your mail program can do filtering for you. Note, that your iPhone won't do it for you.
Stay on the gigo.com email server; enable SpamAssassin
Support: initial setup only by jfesler; mail hosted by jfesler
I personally think SpamAssassin has been totally gamed by the spammers. It offers little value as compared to 3-5 years ago. But, if you really believe that SA is the answer, I'll configure your .procmailrc files for your users - once - to call
|spamc. If you want to get fancy, you need to have unix clue, and have enough of my trust to have ssh access.
This is no longer recommended.
Google Apps for Business
Support: by Google
I've not spent much time with their service; I've always hosted my own. They do have a good reputation. They are expensive. Also, some people are nervous about having Google store your email.
If you do go with this option, note it will require actually moving your mailboxes over to Google. I'll help if time permits. If you're interested, sooner is better than later (the Postini cutoff is in April).
