used for .rrd files (www.rrdtool.org) to add new DS's or RRA's to existing files quickly without resorting to rrdtool dump | filter | rrdtool restore.

This crappy peice of shit script will work on sparc sol 7. For others, you WILL have to edit it. The details in a .rrd file just don't exist to automatically figure out appropriate byte and bit padding for the structures involved; and in reality, the functionality of this script is better put into rrdtool itself.
