Camera review: Canon A75

| | Comments (0)

For my son's birthday, we bought him a digital camera - the A75. It was almost cheap; and appeared to be of decent quality; and seemed to be functional for a 9 year old to use. After actually playing with it, I ended up buying a second one for myself, to complement the Digital Rebel SLR we own.

Now that we finally own a house, it was worth the effort to try and keep up with Jones. Yes, that really is a lightup reindeer in our rose bed.

IMAP, POP3, SMTP all upgraded for security reasons. I appologies for any interruptions this has caused gigo.com users.

I contribute resources to those in the SCA, or Society for Creative Anachronism. This is something I do where/when appreciated, quietly and mostly behind the scenes, but won't twist folks arms to do.

Finally, a day to myself. No family commitments. No house commitments. No job commitments. No *dental* commitments. No inlaw commitments. That meant only one thing, time to flee!

Musical tastes..

I have a particular playlist (the "Kick Ass") list that I fnid favorable. Particularly, the tunes on this list.. the order on this list.. have a certain emotional appeal to me. They.. also.. date me. C'est la vie.
For the curious, the list is here.

I tried to publish this via iTunes, but Apple just doesn't get it. They only publish the portion they actually sell. The greedy money-grubbing bastard part of me understands why, but from an user standpoint, that .. is assenine. And no, I don't mean nine-assed - not that that would do.

Freaky dreamin

My wife scares me..

She dreamed of cabbage patch dolls. Apparently, the new and improved kind. You open the package and get a head of cabbage. blow dry it... and the kid forms out of it and waves at you.

Freaky.

I've ditched my home-brew website code and replaced it with new foldger's crystals Movable Type. For as much as I actually want to spend time dealing with web-like-stuff, this package seemed like a winner - especially since I already licensed it for another project on the server.

Geriatric Mocha

Oral surgery sucks ass. Recovering afterwords, does more. Anyhow, a Geriatric Mocha, for those of you on a liquid diet: 2 shots espresso, 10 oz steamed milk, and Carnation Instant Breakfast. Get your caffeine hit _and_ a token amount of nutrition. All that's missing is the cup holder for your walker, and an appropriate spill-proof lid.

EDIS

The Emergency Digital Information Service (EDIS) delivers official information about emergencies and disasters to the public and the news media in California.

I have a conversion of the latest EDIS data made available in RSS form. The main web site for this stuff is at http://edis.gigo.com

I have feeds available that give all non-test alerts; and I also have region specific alerts. (On my todo list, is to have a page here that does rendering of the Sacramento EDIS feed)
